On June 6th, the club's Scholarship Committee Chair, Larry Franklin (first pic), reviewed the current status of the committee by first thanking Pat Bauer and Randi New (Melba's daughter) for their time and effort in supporting this committee—the current number of students in the pipeline and the financials for the 2023 scholarship year. Including our three new recipients, our club is supporting 13 students—the club's scholarship program total for the year 2023 is $17,000.
Our three recipients are listed from left to right (second pic); Nia Balieva will attend the University of Florida working towards a business degree, and Nadia Thornton will attend the University of South Florida as a double major in music and premed. Her goal is to become a physical therapist. Lucas Weaver will attend the University of Florida and work towards premed. His long-term plan is to become a medical doctor.
