Our club president, David Shelor, welcomed Derek Pontlitz, Rotary District 6950 Governor for 2024-25, to our club meeting.
Our District Assistant Governor, Michael Rooney, was invited to introduce our District Governor to our club membership.
District Governor Derek Pontlitz introduced himself to our club and spoke of how our district membership was using our club as an example for supporting our community after the storms, our international work, and our foundation that supports our community via student scholarships and grants. Our club membership works hard to help our community, and we appreciate the recognition of our hard work.
Governor Pontlitz mentioned that Rotary membership is down worldwide even though countries like India are growing by leaps and bounds. India has one club with over 4,000 members. The governor stated that we are not a service organization without our membership. First, we should focus on bringing new people into our club. You cannot service your community or support our international projects without a club membership. Our governor made an excellent point!
