On Thursday afternoon, October 24, we said goodbye to one of our community leaders, club members, and past club presidents. The leader I am referring to is Kent McRae, who has been the executive director and CEO of Mease Life. Mease Life surprised Kent with a retirement party at the Mease Life auditorium. The auditorium was overfilled with people wanting to say their final goodbyes. Kent led Mease Life for over eight years. To Kent’s surprise, his brother and son were present to join Kent in the festivities, along with his wife of 30 years, Elita. It was an emotional afternoon for Kent, from the praises for a job well done but also greatly respected by the Chairwoman of the Board, the President of the Residents Board, and the COO of Acts Retirement-Life Communities, who will be taking over the helm.
Kent joined our Rotary Club in May 2017. Kent was one of our past presidents and started the Wendy Barmore Scholarship Committee. Our club had approximately ten members attend the surprise retirement party to support Kent and show our appreciation. Kent and his wife, Elita, will be returning to their home state of Arkansas to retire and to be close to family.
Kent, you will be missed.
