David Shelor and Larry Franklin met with the DHS JNROTC Command Triad to thank them for supporting our triathlon this past May. Mr. Franklin told the cadets we could not hold this race without their support. These young men and women do not ask, "Are we done yet?" They always ask, "What's next?" Our Rotary Club is very proud of these cadets; we are fortunate to have them supporting our community.
Committee Chair Larry Franklin presented Cadet Lieutenant Commander Samantha Rey with a $500 check to support DHS JNROTC.
If you're curious about the lieutenant commander's dress, she's the homecoming queen for the high school, and the homecoming dance is this weekend.
As a side note, Last year, I had the pleasure of walking out with last year's Cadet Lieutenant Commander. I asked her what her plans were after high school. She informed me that she had applied to the Naval Academy. I am proud to announce that she was accepted into the Naval Academy and is also the XO for the freshman class. Well Done!
